This event celebrates the lifetime's achievement of Masterji, a Coventry photographer who arrived from India in 1951. Setting up his own business on the Stoney Stanton Road, Masterji photographed his community between the 1950s and the 1990s. Following three exhibitions in the past year, this event will mark the launch of his new book, which will contain many examples of his photography.
The Story of Masterji is that of a small business that has succeeded against the odds in a sometimes difficult environment; an inspiring example for creative businesses to follow their heart doing what they believe is right.
As well as providing an opportunity to see a selection of Masterji’s work and even to speak to the photographer himself, you will also hear from a representative of the Coventry City of Culture Trust who will discuss the support, networks and collaboration opportunities available today to help creative businesses to develop and grow.
Masterji’s new book, entitled 'Masterji Photographer' forms part of the advance programme for Coventry City of Culture 2021.
Confirmed Speakers:
Tarla Patel, photographer and daughter of Masterji
