Are you interested in discovering how to help people learn to code? Perhaps you work in education and want to find out about coding clubs? Or maybe you are just looking to enhance your skills and keep up with the digital age.

OpusVL is providing a workshop for people working in the education sector of 2 parts: Coding interactive workshop, and IT infrastructure for education.

The code interactive workshop aims to help you discover the basics of coding in Python, a real world coding language commonly used in business software. This language is used by the likes of Survey Monkey, Odoo and Blender and was the first programming language to be supported by Google's app engine. For attendees working in education and looking for new project ideas and tools, Python fulfils the text based languages element of the national curriculum.

During the event, we will demonstrate how Open Source tools can be used to interact with the real world and we’ll also highlight how free software can be used as a valued learning and classroom aide.

The infrastructure workshop part of the session will aim to demonstrate how a school can source and implement re-usable software applications to host services, documents, and systems in a secure and reliable manner, and without any license fees. We will signpost key areas and resources for you to investigate, to reduce your IT overheads and increase efficiencies.
