Join the FSB at their annual small business conference for a chance to meet and network with fellow business owners from across the region. This year’s speakers will include Ollie Clarke from Modern Dream who will discuss augmented reality and the opportunities it presents for businesses, Nuneaton based John Parnell, aka ‘The Hoop Guy’ and Christian Warden, Head of Skills Development for The Manufacturing Technology Centre (The MTC).

Following the speakers, you will have an exclusive opportunity to get a back stage tour of the MTC’s state-of-the-art training centre, which is giving new recruits the opportunity to train and learn alongside some of the world’s leading experts in manufacturing and engineering. 

This free event is open to all business owners and their guests. Registration is from 6pm with a light buffet, finishing at 8pm.

Ollie Clarke, Modern Dream

Ollie is an expert in gaming having released 20+ games and led production on 5 released games. He was selected as a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit in 2013 when he established Modern Dream and released Typing of the Dead: Overkill for SEGA. Ollie is proud to be an ambassador for Special Effects and his goal is to serve and help grow the games industry through great games.

Learn from Ollie about the exciting breakthroughs in Augmented Reality technology and its potential to facilitate productive collaborations in a compelling new way. New AR platforms from major companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Google will offer the greatest opportunity for businesses since the launch of the smartphone just ten years ago.

 

John Parnell, The Hoop Guy Ltd

Nuneaton based business owner, John aka the Hoop Guy found fame on the last series of Britain’s Got Talent where he showcased his hula-hoop skills and made it to the live finals. John has since been chosen as one of this year’s Small Business Saturdays, Small Biz 100. The Hoop Guy Ltd specialise in working with both primary and secondary schools, with the main aim to help get children fitter and more active. Hear about John’s exciting business journey and his plans for the future.

 

Christian Warden, Head of Skills Development for the MTC, responsible for strategic engagement, development and skills policy.

Christian works at the highest levels of industry and government sitting on many national and sector boards and has set up and chaired many sector and regional bodies, having regular meetings with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, No 10, Ministers and all areas of government representing manufacturing.

Christian will be telling us about the role UK manufacturing is playing to ensure that we have the competitive capability to take us into and through the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Thus giving us the right people with future focussed skills.
